HISTORY OF BARANGAY GAYA-GAYA
Long time ago, barangay Gaya-Gaya was once called Sitio Pintong Sapang in barangay San Jose Del Monte. It was named “Pintong Sapang” because it looked like an entrance door to a Sapang tree.
The Sitio was full of chaos way back then until an El Don came to the place and lived there. El Don was a man of dignity and kindness. He was very industrious. He became an icon to the people of Sitio Sapang. From then on the people imitated the good traits of the El Don.
When El Don died, the people followed one another’s business. If one person put up a store or shop other people will do the same business. As time went by, this trend was called “Gaya-Gaya”. Thus the Sitio was renamed Gaya-Gaya.
When barangay San Jose Del Monte became a town, Sitio Gaya-gaya became barangay Gaya-Gaya. The barangay was composed of sitio Gumaoc, sitio Graceville, sitio Tungkong Mangga, sitio San Manuel and sitio Ciudad Real.
Today, these sitios have become a barangay, too. Presently, these sitios are one of the 59 barangays of the City of San Jose Del Monte in the province of Bulacan.
Up to this year, Barangay Gaya-Gaya, with a land area of 400 hectares has used 140 hectares for residential area, 50 hectares for commercial area, 50 hectares for pasture land, 100 hectares for agricultural land and 60 hectares are still idle.
